Biography

Corrie Torrent

Corrie Torrent is a Mississippi-based artist and art educator. She believes that good art does not have to be intimidating or overly complex—it should feel like something you want to live with. Corrie holds a degree in Art Education from Mississippi College, where she is currently pursuing her master's.

Oil paint and pastels encompass the majority of her work, developed through a process of building layers of color, blending, and texture. Corrie draws inspiration from many places, including nature, mealtimes, and her community. She wants to help others see the beauty that’s always been there by turning stories and moments into visual art. In addition to her studio practice, Corrie is passionate about teaching and sharing art with others. With a background in art education, she has taught in both school and community settings.

Corrie lives in Madison, Mississippi, with her husband David and their puppy, Tucker. When she’s not painting, you’ll likely find her renovating her house, exploring local thrift stores, or spending time with friends. Whether you're a collector, designer, or simply someone who loves art, Corrie’s work invites you to slow down and notice the everyday beauty around you.

Locally, a portion of her work can be found at 3 Houses Studio in Madison.
